Gamification

Overview
Gamification is the application of game-design elements to non-game contexts to motivate and engage users. We explore how Gamification can be used ethically and effectively to drive positive behavior change in education, health, and civic participation. We move beyond simple "points and badges" to understand deep motivational drivers and how they can sustain long-term engagement.

Key Focus Areas

  • Gamified Learning Systems: Designing interactive educational platforms that make learning STEM, coding, or language skills more engaging for students.

  • Health & Fitness Behavior Change: Using game mechanics to encourage physical activity, medication adherence, or healthy lifestyle choices.

  • Civic Engagement & Crowdsourcing: Applying game incentives to motivate citizens to participate in surveys, data collection, or community volunteering.

  • Ethics of Gamification: Critically examining the potential for manipulation or addiction in gamified systems and establishing guidelines for ethical design.

Our Impact

Our work aims to harness the engaging power of games to solve serious problems, transforming mundane tasks into meaningful and motivating experiences that improve individual and collective well-being.
