Introducing HCCS
The Human-Centered Computing and Society (HCCS) Research Group at BRAC University brings together researchers, students, and collaborators to study how people interact with technology and how technology can better serve society.
The group focuses on building usable, inclusive, and trusted systems that address real challenges in Bangladesh and beyond. Our work spans design, evaluation, empirical studies, and responsible AI practice, with a commitment to human-centered innovation.
Research Areas
HCCS is an interdisciplinary research group dedicated to the study of Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered AI, and the social impacts of computing. We explore how technology shapes behavior, civic life, well-being, learning, and accessibility.
Our structure includes faculty leadership, research cluster leads, operational coordinators, a student section, and external advisors. Activities range from seminars and workshops to design jams, usability clinics, volunteer engagement, and collaborative projects with academic, industry, and civic partners. Ethical practice, accessibility, and IRB-ready research methods are core values in all work.
Goals
The HCCS Research Group aims to become a nationally recognized hub for HCI and Human-Centered AI. Our long-term priorities focus on advancing impactful research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and building technologies that are socially informed and practically useful. Key goals include producing high-quality publications, developing open and reusable research outputs, supporting student-led innovation, strengthening collaborations with local and global partners, and shaping capacity in responsible computing across Bangladesh. We strive to build a vibrant, inclusive research community that drives thoughtful, human-centered technological futures.
