Accessibility and Assistive Technology

Overview
Technology should open doors, not create barriers. We are dedicated to Accessibility and Assistive Technology (AT) research that supports people with diverse abilities, including those with visual, hearing, motor, or cognitive impairments. In the context of Bangladesh, this means designing low-cost, robust solutions that work in resource-constrained environments and support local languages and cultural practices.

Key Focus Areas

  • Inclusive Design Audits: Evaluating local digital services (e-government, banking, education) for compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG) and usability for diverse users.

  • Affordable Assistive Devices: Prototyping low-cost hardware and software tools that assist with navigation, communication, and daily living tasks.

  • Voice & Natural Language Interfaces: Leveraging voice-first interactions to support users who may struggle with traditional text-based interfaces due to literacy or motor limitations.

  • Co-Design with Communities: Working directly with disability advocacy groups and users to ensure solutions are relevant, dignified, and sustainable.

Our Impact

Our goal is to normalize inclusive design as a standard practice in the local tech industry and to build tools that grant independence and digital participation to millions of undeserved users.
