XR-based Interaction (AR/VR/MR)
Overview
Extended Reality (XR), including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR), is redefining how we interact with information and each other. We investigate the potential of immersive technologies to transform education, training, and cultural preservation. Our research focuses on making XR experiences usable, comfortable, and meaningful, moving beyond novelty to practical utility.
Key Focus Areas
- Immersive Education & Training: Developing VR simulations for vocational training, safety drills, or medical education where real-world practice is costly or dangerous.
- Cultural Heritage Preservation: Using AR and VR to digitize and present historical sites and artifacts, making heritage accessible to remote audiences.
- XR Accessibility: Investigating interaction techniques that make immersive environments navigable for users with physical limitations.
- Privacy & Safety in XR: Studying new privacy risks in spatial computing (e.g., eye tracking, room mapping) and designing protections for users in virtual spaces.
Our Impact
We are preparing for the next computing paradigm by exploring how immersive technologies can be designed responsibly to enhance human capabilities, creativity, and connection.
